Nottage Timber Merchants offers a basic cutting service as part of our everyday service. This service is currently available to every customer and on any order regardless of value or size. It should be noted however, we only offer square (90 degree) cuts as part of our standard cutting service. We can cut timber to length and we can cut sheets into squares or rectangles without any issue, and can often be done while you wait at the yard.
Whilst we do not have a strict "x amount cuts free" or similar policy, Due to the increasing cost of electricity, machinery maintenance and cost of skilled labour, where required due to either volume or complexity, then we do have to charge for cutting at an hourly rate of £75 + VAT per sawyer per hour. Thankfully, we do employ skilled sawyers, and we can get most cutting lists done within a reasonable time frame.
When ordering online, the website will allow you to enter a near endless cutting list without charge. Where the cutting list would be deemed as a large volume or complex, additional fees may be applied to the order, which must be paid in full before the goods are cut or released from the yard. Failure to pay the additional fee will result in the order being delivered without the goods being cut.
Nottage Timber Merchants cutting services are subject to, but not limited to, the following terms and conditions:
- Our free cutting service can be amended or withdrawn without notice.
- Where you have been advised that your cut list is subject to additional fees, then the additional fees will be applied to the order. Failure to pay the additional fees will result in a refused cutting service.
- Goods that have been cut on your request, either for free or with an additional fee, are non-returnable.
- This service is not a precision cutting service, there will be an allowable tolerance of +/- 5mm on each cut.
- Angled, Rip, Re-Saws, Profile, Circular or Inset cuts are not covered by this service
- Lead times can vary from 1 hour to 72 hours depending on the complexity of the cuts and service demand during the year. Adding cutting to your order may result in a missed delivery slot and may possibly delay your order beyond of our specified delivery time frame.
- For collections, We may not always have chance to cut your goods before you arrive. There may be a slight wait upon collection.
- Where possible, use layout software such as Opticutter (www.opticutter.com). If this is not possible, ensure your measurements are clear with the unit of measure on each dimension i.e 200mm x 100mm x 2400mm.
- Allow for the thickness of blade (we recommend 10mm to be safe) when measuring cuts, especially on sheets. 1220mm cut in half would not yield 2 x 610mm, it is likely to be closer to 2 x 605mm.
- Where you cut list exceeds the amount of timber purchased, the order will be placed on hold until a solution is agreed.
